Our Love Story

Fairy Tale

I still feel like this love story is unreal. I was born in Quang Tri province. He's from Ha Noi. The moment we met, I was a first-year student living in Hue city, while he had been living in Singapore for about 6 years. Our paths crossed in the most unexpected place, Da Nang, on my very first day there, and his very last night in the city. It was the kind of coincidence you could never plan.

How We Met

It was more than 3 years ago, on April 23 2022, I traveled to Da Nang to meet my friends. Around 22:30 that night, I was wandering on the beach when a man approached me. In English, he asked "Do you know the way to Dragon Bridge?". I thought he must be a foreigner and this is the chance to practice speaking English. I replied I didn't know but my friends could help him. A few minutes later, we found out he was a Vietnamese all along, such a trap!

Our Love Journey

Not long after, I posted a photo of my family's meal. He replied to my Facebook story "Oh, that looks delicious". From that day on, he made it a habit to message me every night at 9PM. Sometimes, we'd talk until 4AM. Our connection grew stronger through those late-night conversations. Over 5 months of chatting, something changed. Early in the morning on my birthday, he sent me a bouquet of sunflowers and texted me: "I want to hear more from you, I want to hear your complaints, I want to be your support, I want you to have someone by your side who doesn't judge you, and I also want to have someone by my side who doesn't judge me. I want to be sincere and simple when I'm with you, and I want to be someone special to you."

"Will You Marry Me?"

After 3 years together, I still feel so lucky to have found him. People say "Love each other like the first day we fell in love." I don't believe that's enough. How could I love him only as much as I did on the first day, when my love for him now is so much deeper and stronger? By his side, I feel home. I feel calm, safe, and protected. He makes me a better version of myself, he patiently listens to me, encourages me, and supports all my decisions, no matter if it's right or wrong. As he once said: "Just do it. I'll be here to face and solve everything with you." Taylor Swift once sang: "You are the best thing that's ever been mine, and I don't know how it gets better than this, and even when my castles feel like they're crumbling, I know that I did one thing right." On May 5 2025, he proposed, and I said yes.
